AMIkids Space Coast, formerly Space Coast Marine Institute, is a six to nine month moderate-security residential facility for boys ages 14-18 who have committed crimes.  They have committed an average of 4-12 offenses by the time they are referred to AMIkids Space Coast by the Department of Juvenile Justice. These young men arrive at our institute with little or no self-esteem and have experienced minimal positive interaction with adults and peers.

The mission of AMIkids Space Coast is to protect the public safety and positively impact as many youth as possible by providing education, counseling, behavior modification and treatment to improve the lives of troubled-male teenagers. 

AMIkids Space Coast addresses the needs of youthful offenders by providing a scheduled curriculum of academic, vocational and mental health awareness activities. In addition to a personalized academic education, the daily schedule includes programs that build self-confidence and a greater understanding of the world around us.

A Second Chance at Life

Although the residents are "sentenced" to AMIkids Space Coast, our focus is on personal growth, not incarceration. During the six to nine month stay, most students advance two grade levels. Each student will participate in programs that teach accountability, dedication and teamwork. We continue to successfully help young men rejoin society as responsible and respectful students, employees and family members.

Over 1,300 boys have participated in the program at AMIkids Space Coast and approximately 76 percent have had no further negative contact with the criminal justice system. Compare that to the national average of 24 percent and see why we are so committed to these young men.
